Thomas Deller
Prof. Dr. Thomas Deller is a distinguished neuroscientist and the Director of the Institute of Clinical Neuroanatomy at the Goethe University Frankfurt. With an extensive career dedicated to deciphering the complexities of the human brain, Dr. Deller has become a leading authority on the structural and functional organization of the Central Nervous System (CNS).
His research focuses on synaptic plasticity and structural remodeling, investigating how neurons adapt to learning and memory or fail during disease. As the head of the Deller Lab, he leads pioneering studies on neuroregeneration and neuroprotection, aiming to discover mechanisms that can halt or reverse the damage caused by injuries and neurodegenerative disorders.
Under his leadership, the Institute bridges the gap between basic anatomical science and clinical application, providing a sophisticated understanding of diseases that have long been considered incurable. In this MOOC, Prof. Dr. Deller brings his decades of expertise from the Frankfurt neuroscience ecosystem to the next generation of researchers and health professionals.
